To send out invitations to potential participating schools in the area. This will be done at least half a term before the event.
To keep the host school informed of the number of entries leading to the challenge.
To provide all apparatus and stationery.
To provide a risk assessment for the challenge, this will be posted on the website.
I would be most grateful if you would organise the following:
A supply of pencils – one per participant ***
Four prizes – these can come in the form of vouchers or books / dictionaries. ***
Publicity – personal wish.
A desk per pair.
Chairs required for competitors.
Chairs should be made available for visiting staff and visitors.
A digital projector, speakers and a screen. The organiser will be bringing a laptop.
The use of a Public Address system. Hopefully you will have a radio microphone with the system but it is not essential.
A tea for the visiting teams. Some schools provide a “cooked match” tea and others serve drinks with doughnuts and the like. Lunch is sometimes offered.
Personnel: Adults, from the host or visiting schools, assist with the marking of each round. It is usually more impressive if senior pupils are the markers. (Year 8 and above).
On the day I will arrive two hours before the event. If the furniture is laid out as requested there is no need for anybody to be with me as I set out all the stationery and apparatus. It takes about an hour for the set up and time is required for a sound check and computer-related activities.
*** If you wish the organiser can provide the items
